The Most Tactical and Disciplined Team in Africa, Amunike Warns Nigeria of Potential Danger in Group C

Former Tanzania national team coach, Emmanuel Amunike has warned the Nigeria Super Eagles of impending danger that lies ahead of them in the group C of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Nigeria share group C in the group stage of the African section of FIFA World Cup qualification, Qatar 2022, alongside Liberia, The Central Africa Republic and Cape Verde. And only one team will make it into the final round of qualifier.


Though soccer followers across the continent believe the Super Eagles should easily make it through the group, but Amunike, who featured at the 1994 FIFA world cup and scored against Bulgaria and Argentina, warns that danger lies ahead for the three times African champions.

“I think the last AFCON has shown that when it comes to African football, a lot of teams have improved. They now have a lot of players playing at top levels in Europe, competing every day, week in week out. It has come to a stage where you can no longer underrate any team.”

“I was privileged to play Cap Verde while I coached Tanzania and I could tell you, Cap Verde is one of the most tactical and disciplined team I have ever seen on the continent of Africa. This is due to the pedigree of their players."

"Most of their players have Portuguese nationality. That is, some were born and trained in Portugal, so they have this Portuguese concept of playing football. We don't have to underrate any team in that group.” The former Barcelona FC player warns.

AFCON 2019: Amunike leads, will Rohr follow?

Former African of footballer of the year, Emmanuel Amunike, who is now the head coach of the Taifa Stars of Tanzania, recently named Under-17 striker, Kelvin John in his provisional squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Kelvin caught the eyes of major clubs around the world with his all-round performance for the Serengeti Boys at the just concluded CAF Under-17 Cup of Nations and he is said to be on his way to Old Trafford.
